SAFE 2/13/18 DIABETIC & DECLAWED —- Genevieve aka Rosemary was brought to us as a stray because the finder stated he found this kitty and she was vomiting. Medical has performed blood work and it appears she is diabetic but her ketones are normal level (see blood work results below). She is negative for Felv/FIV. She appears to be eating well and her spirits are great!

Subjective:
Observed Behavior – friendly at first but became tense and hissing after restraint
Evidence of Cruelty seen – no
Evidence of Trauma seen – no

BCS 4/9
EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted
Oral Exam: moderate dental calc, missing both upper canines; mm’s slightly pale pink, tacky; brief look under tongue but no string seen
PLN: No enlargements noted
H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupneic
ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated
U/G: FS, tattoo seen
MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, declawed front paws, haircoat appears partially clipped
CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Assessment
vomiting- R/o GI disease vs renal disease vs liver disease vs endocrine disease vs other
Prognosis: fair to guarded depending on cause of vomiting
Plan:
CBC/chemistry/T4 (see results)
unable to get urine, tested serum for ketones: negative
cerenia 0.27 mls SQ (x)
start SQ fluids 100 mls SID
start insulin glargine 1 unit every 24 hrs as unable to give every 12 hours
recheck BG tomorrow
