GARFIELD – A1061668
Gone - 1-5-2016 Manhattan
**GONE 01/05/16** ANOTHER CHANCE FOR GARFIELD–MAKE IT COUNT! GARFIELD and two other cats, SERENITY and SELINIA (both not listed tonight), were surrendered due to 3 new children in the home with too many cats. GARFIELD is a 5 year old that had lived with 14 cats and he had not gotten along with any. Unless a committed, experienced person introduced them slowly, and oversaw any complications, then it’s no wonder why he didn’t get along with any! He’s going to need an EXPERIENCED, person with no children to FOSTER or ADOPT him. Give him time to decompress and you’ll see…GARFIELD will be your new best friend!

12/31/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Garfield’s former owner described him as being shy towards new people who enter the home. He mostly avoided people and stood to himself in the home. Garfield lived with 14 other cats in which it was stated that he didn’t get along with and was often seen swatting at the other cats. Reaction to assessor: Garfield looks tense in his cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Garfield remains crouched position on his cage bedding, alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Garfield accepts a stroke, but began to growl and hiss at the assessor’s hand. Placement determination: Experience / no child Garfield tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
