***SAFE 05/24/16*** So, on May 18th some guy decided to rid his yard of two of the cats he had been feeding there, and the two unfortunate cats he managed to catch, were GARDNER and PERSIA. He was told that both cats could be killed if he left them with the ACC, but dude figured that was okay by him, so he did whatever made it possible to walk away from the ACC—and Persia and Gardner—forever. Both cats are understandably freaked out at the ACC, and both cats earned NEW HOPE ratings. The guy who put them into this position did mention that they were nicer when they were eating, which suggests that these two should come around if they are given a chance. That chance only happens if a NEW HOPE rescue steps up for them tonight!

05/21/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Gardner does not come to front but looks at the assessor from the cat den When spoken quietly: Gardner does not come to front but looks at the assessor from the cat den Reaction to door cage opening: Gardner shifts his body away from the door Reaction to touch: Grardner eyes widen as he hisses, strikes and does not allows petting at all Behavior Determination: NewHope Gardner was brought to the care center as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies previous to what we are seeing during the evaluation. He seems to not be thriving in this environment and at the time of the assessment he was displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. He is extremely fearful and currently does not tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
