12/06/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Franko was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. He was receptive to some handling upon intake and allowed handling during his initial medical exam although he was tense and nervous. Reaction to assessor: Franko was curled up on top of his bed, looking at the assessor with soft eyes. Reaction when softly spoken to: Franko’s ears tilt slightly sideways and his eyes dart back and forth from the assessor to his surroundings. Reaction to cage door opening: Franko becomes alert and shifts away slightly. Reaction to touch: Franko was hesitant, but he sniffs the assessor’s hand and accepts petting. He leans in for cheek rubs, arches his back, and shifts his body to shift closer to the assessor. He seems to appreciate attention, but seems wary of his surroundings. Reaction to being picked up: Franko was slightly tense, but remains calm when held and nuzzles against the assessor. Behavior Determination: Experience Franko tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
