05/14/16 15:58 Basic Information Fiester was brought in as an owner’s surrender due to owner moving and being unable to bring him. Owner has had Fiester for the past seven years, but he’s been with her family all of his life. Owner says Fiester does not have any injuries or health concerns, and was last seen by the vet last year. Socialization & Behavior Fiester is said to be normally tolerant and aloof towards strangers. Fiester lived with a 13-year old, and owner says he is tolerant towards her. Fiester lived with a female cat, and owner says the two did not like each other at first, but eventually became affectionate. Fiester lived with a Shih Tzu and owner says the two were playful with each other. Owner says there have been no issues of Fiester biting anyone or another animal. Owner says Fiester cries when outside and during car rides. Owner has never attempted to bathe or trim Fiester’s nails. Owner says Fiester does not like being petted, and will only allow one or two brushes. He struggles to get down when held, and is easily placed into the carrier. Owner says he is unbothered if disturbed while sleeping. For a New Family to Know Fiester is described as mellow, independent, and aloof with a medium activity level. When home he is normally following his owner, and enjoys string toys. Fiester was kept indoors only, and owner says he cannot eat dry food, only dry mixed. Fiester is litter-box trained and owner says he never has accidents. Fiester only scratches owner’s wood door. Behavior during Intake Fiester was very fractious during intake. He hissed and growled when approached. Fiester swatted at counselors when moving near his carrier. Due to his behaviors shown, no further handling was conducted.

Fiester’s former owner stated to be normally tolerant and aloof towards strangers. Fiester lived with a 13-year old, and owner says he is tolerant towards her. Fiester lived with a female cat, and owner says the two did not like each other at first, but eventually became affectionate. Fiester lived with a Shih Tzu and owner says the two were playful with each other. Also, described as mellow, independent, and aloof with a medium activity level. Reaction to assessor: Fiester looks neutral, lying down on his cage bedding when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Fiester remains in place, relaxed body posture, alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Fiester does not allow the stroke, growls, hisses, and swats at the assessor’s hand. Placement determination: NH ONLY Fiester is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room. He is stressed in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
