Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Eminem was brought to us as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in a previous home. Reaction to assessor: Eminem was curled up near front of cage, by door. She remained motionless, didn’t make eye contact, but was bright and alert with wide eyes and focusing on the room, essentially ignoring me. Reaction when softly spoken to: Eminem hissed once but otherwise ignored me. She remained motionless, didn’t make any eye contact, and continued to focus on the room. Reaction to cage door opening: Eminem tensed but did not move, hissed and growled, focused intently on the door opening. Reaction to touch: Eminem lifted up, shifted weight abruptly to rear, hissed and growled, and swatted repeatedly, not allowing any touching. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Eminem is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. She is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
