09/21/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
09/21/16 17:30 Basics: Elvis is a ten year old orange tabby cat. He has a white chest and stripe on his nose. He had been in his owner’s care for approximately eight years but is no longer able to keep him due to personal issues. He also mentioned that he had not been to a vet recently. Socialization: When meeting strangers Elvis will likely approach them and rub his body against them. He had lived in a home with two other cats but had not gotten along very well with them. He had been given some time to adjust but the owner found that he would often play roughly, and attempt to lunge on his female cat. Behavior: Elvis uses his litterbox but would often use the bathroom in the bathtub. The owner had worked on teaching Elvis to not do this and mentioned that recently he had stopped. He has never bitten anybody but the owner mentioned that he had a tendency to scratch if he was touched or picked up in a manner he did not like. Similarly Elvis does not like being placed in a carrier or being picked up and may try to scratch when either action is attempted. He enjoys having his coat brushed but the owner mentioned that its important that he does not see the brush. For a New family to Know: Elvis had been kept indoors and had not been outside at all. In his home he had been using a hooded litterbox with worlds best cat litter. He also had a multi-level scratching post made out of carpet. His diet had consisted of mostly dry food with the occasional wet food as a treat. Overall he is a cat of moderate energy and is not very active when he is left on his own. He becomes much more playful when his owner intiates play. Behavior during Intake: Elvis had allowed counselor to gently remove him from the carrier. Outside of the carrier he had been looking for a way to get off the counter top. He allowed the counselor to collar him and position him several times to get a good picture without any reaction what so ever. He went back into the new carrier with ease and was given food which he did not touch.
