ELQUIN – A1077750
Safe - 6-22-2016 Manhattan Rescue: Staten Island Hope Please honor your pledges: http://www.statenislandhoperescue.org/
***SAFE 06/22/16*** Whoever used to own ELQUIN and his friend, Zeneva, took the low road out of cat ownership sometime before 3am on June 15th. Three in the morning is when some other guy came home to find those two cats on his doorstep, and although he took them in temporarily, they were not a good for his home. So, these good cats were then dumped at the ACC, who somehow has found it utterly impossible to find homes for a lynx-point Siamese, and a white fluffy kitty with blue & green eyes. They have slapped ELQUIN on the At-Risk List tonight, after giving this poor rattled boy an EXPNOCHILD rating. These cats have been through hell since June 15th and honestly, their woes may have started long before then. ELQUIN is the only one of the pair that has been listed tonight, so please don’t let him down! Advocate widely for ELQUIN, tonight!

06/16/16 17:47 Elquin A1077750 and Zeneva A1077749 were left in front of the finders door yesterday on 6/15/2016 around 3am when he was getting home from work. He said that he felt bad for them and decided to bring them both into his home. He is unable to keep them because he has 5 small dogs and his wife is to allergic cats. He fed them tuna fish and they allowed to be handled by the finder. Behavior during intake Elquin and zeneva were very nervous but allowed handling. They allowed to be scanned(-), collared and photgraphed. They were transferred into a kennel and were given food and water.

06/20/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
During intake Elquin was very nervous but allowed handling. He allowed himself to be scanned, collared, and photographed. Reaction to assessor: Elquin continues to hide (was hiding on approach) and hisses at the assessor. Reaction when softly spoken to: Elquin continues to hide, and hisses at the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Elquin becomes stiff and alert, and retreats further to the back of the cat den. Reaction to touch: Elquin continues to hide – is immobile when touched. Behavior Determination: Experienced, no children Elquin tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his or her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
