***SAFE 11/14/17*** CALM, SWEET ELM IS AN AVERAGE RATED KITTY WHO WOULD LOVE A HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS! ELM was found on the street and brought to the shelter by someone who thought they were doing the cat a favor. Well, now that ELM has caught the kitty cold, the ACC has given him the boot! ELM is a friendly boy who solicits attention and has a sweet purrsonality. He is 2 yrs old and already neutered. ALL HE NEEDS IS SOMEONE TO OFFER TO FOSTER OR ADOPT TONIGHT!! MUST RESERVE THIS GINGER BOY BY NOON!!

Hello, my name is Elm. My animal id is #10995. I am a desexed male orange tabby cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 2 years 1 weeks old. – P
I came into the shelter as a stray on 28-Oct-2017.
Elm is being placed at risk due to having an Upper Respiratory Infection which is contagious to other cats. Elm will likely require in home care with a course of antibiotics. At this time there are no behavior concerns for Elm at this time (average determination).

S/O -QAR, docile -sneezing, serous nasal discharge -mild hypersalivation -eupnic A URI P move to isolation doxycycline 1 ml PO SID x 10 days cerenia 0.5 ml SQ SID x 2 days nebulize SID x 3 days

MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: Observed Behavior – Calm, allows all handling, seeks attention
ENRICHMENT NOTES:: Curled up asleep behind litter box, woke when door opened. Lay in place, eyes somewhat dilated but soft posture. Allowed all pets, put head down, went back to sleep.

Reaction to assessor:: Elm remains neutral, crouched position in his cage cubby when approached.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Elm remains immobile in place.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Elm becomes alert with eyes wide open, ears erect and forward.
Reaction to touch:: Elm slowly leans into the assessor’s hand while lip licking and remains cautious with his surroundings.
Reaction to being picked up:: He becomes antsy then jumps back into the cage.
