01/04/16 14:57 Basic Information: Ellis is a 2yr old male domestic short haired cat that has no past or current medical issues that the owner is aware of. Social Life & Personality: Ellis comes from a home with children and he interacted with them in a playful gentle manner. He has also lived with one other cat (female) and they got along just fine according to the owner. The owner isn’t sure how Ellis would respond in the presence of a dog due to never having one around for him to interact with. Ellis is an indoor only cat that is litter box trained. Ellis is described to be friendly, playful and affectionate with a medium activity level. Behavior Issues: Ellis has never bitten a person or another animal according to the owner. The owner has never tried to bath or trim Ellis’s nails and isn’t sure how he would respond to having these grooming agents done. However Ellis does like to be held and also likes to have his coat brushed. When it comes to being put in a cat carrier for transport Ellis takes well to it and pratically walks right in. For a New Family to Know: Ellis was brought up using regular clay litter and a standard litter box. He was given cats toys but show minimal to no interest in them. Ellis didn’t have a scratching post but it is recommended by the owner to get him one due to him using the furniture around the house as an alternate. When in the home Ellis is the type to follow you around seekion attention or be in the same room. When interacting with humans Ellis plays in a gentle manner. When in the car for transport Ellis appears to be afraid and will meow/cry. Ellis was brought up eating dry food and the brand the owner gave was Friskies.

Ellis came to the shelter surrendered by an owner who describes him as friendly, playful and affectionate. They also noted he socialized well with children and another cat in the home. Reaction to assessor: Ellis is sitting in the back of his cage. Reaction when softly spoken to: Ellis looks at the assessor with wide eyes. Reaction to cage door opening: Ellis tenses up, tucking paws closer underneath him. Reaction to touch: Ellis warms up quickly to petting, head-butting, allows petting all over body. Reaction to pick up: Ellis is tolerant of this type of handling, but tense. Placement Determination: Average Ellis does not approach the assessor and seems nervous at first, but enjoys petting and attention. Ellis is exhibiting behavior suited to average cat parents.
