07/20/16 17:25 Basic Information Dutchess is a spayed 15 year old lilac point who was originally adopted from ACC 7 years ago. She is being surrendered due to owner’s daughter being allergic. Dutchess was taken to the vet about 3 months ago and was diagnosed with hyperactive thyroid. Socialization Dutchess is described as friendly. She has lived with kids’ ages 7 and 11 and was tolerant, relaxed, and respectful of them. She plays in a gentle manner with kids as well as adults. Dutchess has never been around cats. She has been around a small Yorkie and was the boss around the Yorkie, states the owner. Dutches was tolerant, relaxed, and respectful of the Yorkie. Dutchess has never bitten or scratched any person or animal. Behavior Owner states the only behavior issue Dutchess has is that she seeks too much attention. She enjoys car rides. Owner has never bathed or trimmed Dutchess nails. Dutchess is not bothered by being picked up, placed in a carrier, or being disturbed while sleeping. Dutchess enjoys having her coat brushed. For a New Family to Know Dutchess is described as friendly, affectionate, independent, and quite with a low activity level. Dutchess favorite thing is to play with pencils or pens. At home she likes to stay in her favorite spot. Dutchess does not play with any toys and she is kept indoors only. Dutchess likes to sleep anywhere that is high, like on top of the fridge or bookshelf. She eats both dry and wet food; wet is fancy feast and dry is pedigree. She is fed 2 cans of fancy feast per day and dry food left out for her to nibble. She uses a cat litter box that is hooded with clumping style litter. Dutchess has a scratching posy made out of wood with bark. Behavior during Intake Dutchess was tolerant of touch, being picked up, and collard. No signs of aggressions occurred during intake.

She seeks a lot of attention and was described as friendly, affectionate, independent, and quiet with a low activity level. Reaction to assessor: Dutchess was sleeping upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Dutchess doesn’t wake and continues to sleep. Reaction to cage door opening: Dutchess remains asleep. Reaction to touch: Dutchess chirps and stretches. She begins to purr and leans in for petting. She is very affectionate throughout the interaction. Reaction to being picked up: Dutchess remains calm and allows handling. Behavior Determination: Average Dutchess interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
