10/21/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Durant was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. Reaction to assessor: Durant was curled up in the back of the kennel with her body lowered inside her litter box. Reaction when softly spoken to: Durant has wide eyes focused on the assessor and remains motionless at the back. Reaction to cage door opening: Durant sinks lower into her litter box. Reaction to touch: Durant’s ears bend flat and she leans away when the assessor extends her hand out. She flinched when touched then hissed and whipped around quickly at the assessor’s hand. She tolerates brief contact before getting uncomfortable and hissing. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Durant is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. She is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
