***GONE 10/13/16*** BEGINNER RATED HOUSE PANTHER WANTS TO BE YOUR NEW BEST FRIEND! Who names a cat DUMBO? The only dumbo here is whoever named this cat! A gorgeous sleek black house panther deserves a name that will make him sound adoptable and elegant! DUMBO is a 3 year old boy who was trapped and dumped in the shelter. He was not happy at first but has since mellowed out and got the highest BEGINNER rating from the assessor. He was soliciting attention, meowing, head butting, rubbing and displaying affection while purring!! What a great kitty! Sadly a common cold is going to get this boy killed at noon tomorrow if someone out there doesn’t come to his rescue. PLEASE CONSIDER FOSTERING OR ADOPTING DUMBO – AND PLEASE CHANGE HIS NAME!! 10/05/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – BEGINNER
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Dumbo was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. He was tense during his initial medical exam, and seemed to become increasingly agitated with prolonged handling. The enrichment facilitator reports he was sitting attentively and was calmly grooming himself during their first interaction. He leaned in to smell the assessor’s hand and accepted rubs on his head. Reaction to assessor: Dumbo was calm, relaxed, and friendly upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Dumbo meows and solicits attention by rubbing against the cage door. Reaction to cage door opening: Dumbo remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Dumbo head-butts, meows, and leans in for petting. He is very affectionate throughout the interaction, purring loudly. Reaction to pick up: Dumbo remains calm and continues to purr when held. Behavior Determination: Beginner Dumbo interacts with the observer, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat can go to a beginner home.
