01/31/2017 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – BEGINNER
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
KNOWN HISTORY: Dragonia was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. Her finder reports she tolerated being picked up and did not display any signs of aggression when placing her inside a carrier. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is neat. Reaction to assessor: Dragonia was eating upon approach, calm and relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Dragonia stops eating to approach the front and sniff around. Reaction to cage door opening: Dragonia remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Dragonia head-butts, her tail quivers, and she leans in for more petting. She starts to purr and continues to rub her cheeks against the assessor. Reaction to being picked up: Dragonia remains calm and continues to purr when held. ENRICHMENT NOTES: 1/25/17 Anxious, but very affectionate once comfortable. Some hissing on first approach. Lured to front with treats, then leaned hard into pets and purred. Sweet, just shy and prefers to stay in cubby. 1/26/17 Big improvement! Much calmer today. Dozing in cubby on approach, woke when spoken to and moved immediately into main compartment to rub against bars. Leaned and arched into pets, and purred. Still a little tense, brief hiss when door closed, but overall much braver. 1/30/17 Moved to main adoptions room. Similar to before. In litter box, still seems unsure of surroundings. Brief hiss on approach, then meowed, leaned and arched into pets, and began to explore cage. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mellow, Moderate VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Social, Sweet, Affectionate BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Beginner Dragonia interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. She may need time to warm up to her new home, but this cat can go to a beginner home.
