GONE 11/13/17 DOROTHY was found as a stray in basement of an apartment building. Dorothy is very fractious. Cat mentally inappropriate. Reportedly feral and BLIND . Recommend neuro eval with a specialist. Please help Dorothy today before she is euthanized.

History : Stray, found in basement of apartment building.

Subjective: Caution, very fractious. Cat mentally inappropriate. Reportedly feral and blind. Approaching cage elicits growling, hissing and striking. Growls, hisses, and meows very loudly on her own with no provocation, attacks her food bowl and towel. Very good appetite, intention tremors noted. Circling to left, hypermetric and unsteady gait.

EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted.
Oral Exam: no obvious lesions
PLN: not assessed
H/L: NSR, NMA, Lungs clear, eupnic
ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated
U/G: FS
MSI: Ambulatory x 4, fleas, no masses noted, fair hair coat, hypotrichosis along dorsum, generalized scaling
CNS: Mentation inappropriate.
Rectal: normal externally

Assessment
Mentally inappropriate
Circling to the left
Intention tremors
Hypermetric/unsteady gait
+/- blind
+/- Rabies exposure
Fractious
Fleas

 

Prognosis: poor

Plan:
Major caution when handling
Sedated with telazol
CBC/chem — NSF
Retro test — negative
Needs behavior evaluation
Recommend neuro eval with a specialist. Unable to do a thorough neuro eval due to p being fractious and needed to sedate for PE
