***SAFE 04/29/16*** 26 POUNDS! That’s a lot of cat to love but DOPEY is hoping someone who sees his picture RIGHT NOW, is willing to do what it takes to bring him home and give him some TLC. Brought to the shelter by a former owner who hasn’t taken him to the vet “for quite some time,” maybe not since he was NEUTERED, this orange and white hunky-hunk has earned an EXPERIENCE rating, but has not managed to catch the eye of any potential adopters. That former owner claimed to be “allergic” to Dopey, but given that they had owned him for his ENTIRE LIFE, they probably just wanted an excuse they could tell themselves, something to try to assuage the pain of betraying their former feline friend. DOPEY would rather not find out if the ACC has to double down on the amount of poison it takes to kill a cat, given his size, so please work relentlessly to save him tonight!

04/21/16 20:46 Behavior during intake: This cat is very large, He had a hard time coming in and out of the carrier. Basic information: Dopey is a 3 year old, domestic short haired cat. His former owner got him from a friend when he was a small kitten. He has not been seen by a vet for quiet some time. Socialization: According to his former owner Dopey can be nervous around strangers at first but after a few minutes he does warm up. Dopey has never been around children but he has been around teens and he does great with them. He is calm and respectful. Dopey is not a super playful cat. He likes to take naps and chill. He has never been around any other dogs or cats. Behavior history: Dopey has never bitten or scratched another animal or human. He does cry during car rides.

As per previous owner, Dopey can be nervous around strangers at first but after a few minutes he does warm up. Dopey has never been around children but he has been around teens and he does great with them. He is calm and respectful. Dopey is not a super playful cat. He likes to take naps and chill. He has never been around any other dogs or cats. Reaction to assessor: Dopey does not stay at the front, but remains neutral. Reaction when softly spoken to: Dopey does not stay at the front, but remains neutral. Reaction to cage door opening: Dopey remains motionless and does not respond. Reaction to touch: Dopey leans away from the assessor’s hand and begins to lip lick in place. Behavior Determination: Experience Dopey tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
