Brought in as stray so no known history is available Litter box training: Y EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cat hiding in cat den Reaction to assessor: Staring through holes in cat den Reaction when softly spoken to: Continued to hide: soft growl Reaction to cage door opening: Remained motionless and did not respond Reaction to touch: Submitted assess-a-hand began to growl and hiss and then swatted Reaction to being picked up: Would not allow any interaction ENRICHMENT NOTES: 3/1/17 In feral den, nose just poking out. Started hissing and growling when spoken to. Growled louder and retreated further into den when door opened. 3/2/17 In feral den, started hissing and deep growling on approach. Briefly stuck head out, then retreated back in almost immediately, started hissing and growling louder MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: NERVOUS, HISSING, GROWLING, SWATTING AND STRIKING ACTIVITY LEVEL: Unable to observe VOCAL: Could not determine CHARACTER TYPE: Could not determine RECOMMENDATIONS: _x_ Placement with a New Hope partner – Donut is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. He has tried to swat, and is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
