For a New Family to Know: Donny is described as friendly ,affectionate, playful, mellow, shy and quiet with a low activity level. In the home, he liked to stay in his favorite spot. He did not play with any toys and preferred to lounge around instead. Donny was kept indoors only & is litter box trained. In the home, he used a hooded litter box with clumping litter. Donny is front declawed but still liked to use the rough rope scratching post that the owner had in the home. Behavior during intake: Donny was nervous and trying to hide in the carrier during intake. I was able to scan him for a mc without any issues. When I tried to collar him and take his picture, he tried to flee.

10/19/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per previous owner, Donny is shy around strangers and will hide from them for a few days. Whenever the owner had guests over the home, he would stay hidden the whole time. The owner had 2 children ages 9 & 11 in the home & stated that Donny was very respectful and tolerant of the children but would prefer to stay to himself. He lived with another cat and was relaxed and affectionate with him. His owner describes her as friendly, affectionate, playful, mellow, shy and quiet with a low activity level. He did not play with any toys and preferred to lounge around instead. Reaction to assessor: Donny was curled up in the back of the kennel with his tail at his side. Reaction when softly spoken to: Donny lifts his head up, makes eye contact with the assessor but doesn’t come forward. Reaction to cage door opening: Donny remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Donny sniffs the assessor’s hand and slowly lowers his head into the litter box trying to avoid contact. He allows petting and didn’t mind being touched on his shaved back. After a few soft passes he raised his body up and slowly leaned his head in when rubbed on his cheeks. He seems to appreciate attention but is more confident at the back of the kennel and doesn’t come forward. Behavior Determination: Experience Donny may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
