05/06/16 15:09 Basic Information Donatello was brought in as an owner’s surrender due to owner’s being able to deal with shedding. Owners have had Donatello for the past year, after a friend’s cat had a litter. Owner’s say Donatello does not have any injuries or health concerns, and was last seen by the vet at Pet land in October 2015. Socialization & Behavior Donatello is described as being shy when meeting new people; but will warm after a few moments. Donatello’s behaviors with children and dogs are unknown. He lives with his litter-mate, and owner says the two are playful and affectionate with each other. According to owner there have been no issues of Donatello biting anyone or another animal. He does not like nail trims, but will tolerate them. Donatello is said to enjoy being brushed, and struggles to get down when held. Owner says he is easily placed into the carrier and unbothered if disturbed while sleeping. For a New Family to Know Donatello is described as friendly, playful, and mellow with a medium activity level. When home he is normally relaxing in one of his favorite spots, and enjoys playing with string. Donatello was kept indoors only, and normally sleeps in bed with his owner. Donatello is fed dry food, and has tried a variety of brands. He is said to be litter-box trained, and shared his litter-box with his litter-mate. Donatello has a cat tree house he uses for a scratching post. Behavior during Intake Donatello was scared during intake. He initially backed away from contact, and held dilated pupils. After being given some time he slowly approached counselor’s closed fist, and allowed counselor to remove him from carrier. Donatello allowed parting, but became scared when hearing noises on the other side of the office, and attempted to crawl away. Donatello allowed all handling and showed no aggression during intake.

Donatello’s former owner stated he is described as being shy when meeting new people; but will warm after a few moments. Donatello’s behaviors with children and dogs are unknown. He lives with his litter-mate, and former owner says the two are playful and affectionate with each other. Also, described as friendly, playful, and mellow with a medium activity level. Reaction to assessor: Donatello looks tense in the cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Donatello remains crouched position at the back, alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Donatello retreats from the assessor’s hand then once touched he shows no interest to the stroke and attempts to hide. Placement determination: Experience / no child Donatello tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
