06/03/17 16:25 BASIC INFORMATION: Diva is an all-black, spayed DHS cat that is 12 years old. Diva was a kitten when she was given to the owner by a friend. Since a kitten Diva has been her loyal companion. The owner is surrendering Diva due to having not time to care for her. Diva has no known illness. SOCIALIZATION: Diva has lived with only one adult. She loves and solicits attention. Sometime she engages in gentle play with the owner. She has never been around small children. When strangers come over she becomes shy and attempts to hide for a few. Diva has been introduced to one dog and a cat but Diva shies away and keeps to herself. BEHAVIOR: Diva has no bite history. She is shy around stranger but warms up in a few days. She has never received a bath, had her nails trimmed or had her coat brushed. She is fearful going into her cat carrier and struggles away. Diva has accidence outside her hooded litter box when is not cleaned frequently. She uses her scratching post made out of cardboard. FOR NEW FAMILY TO KNOW: Diva is described by the owner as confident and independent. She can show affection to familiar people. She loves to look out the window and sun bathed. When the owner arrives home she lounges around the same room the owner is located. Her favorite toys are wands with feathers and balls that she chases around the house. BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE: Diva during intake was a bit nervous. But with a slow approach she allowed being petted, collard, scanned and photographed.

MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Timid, scared ENRICHMENT NOTES: 06/04/17 Comes forward as I open the kennel door and head-butts my hand. Allows petting along head and body, leaning in with tail raised. Friendly girl. Doing well! EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is neat Reaction to assessor: Diva was crouched in the back of the kennel with her tail curled up at her side. Reaction when softly spoken to: Diva slowly comes forward when coaxed then gently rubs against the cage furnishings. Reaction to cage door opening: Diva is calm and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Diva sniffs then brushes her body up against the assessor’s hand. Her tail pilo-erect and starts to sway more frequently but she doesn’t display any further reaction. She leans in for rubs, appreciates attention and allows petting all over. Reaction to being picked up: Diva was a bit tense when picked up but remained calm and allowed all handling. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Lively VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Calm, Social, Affectionate BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Average Diva interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting.
