DAFFODIL – A1078508
Safe - 7-5-2016 Brooklyn Rescue: Staten Island Hope Please honor your pledges: http://www.statenislandhoperescue.org/
**SAFE 07/05/16** Daffodil and Peony are terrified and fighting for their lives. Why you ask? Well they were forced to fend for themselves on the mean streets of Brooklyn, learning not to trust anyone. Then suddenly they were caught and brought into a High Kill Shelter where the air and environment reek of fear and death. So can you blame them? They don’t know who they can trust and are trying to fight their way to freedom. Well we all know that isn’t how it works. The ACC thrives on “difficult” cats, it’s easier to get rid of them than try to save them. Well everyone deserves a chance, especially the scared ones. Daffodil and Peony need your help tonight, they need a home where they can decompress and learn how to trust again, an experienced home which has dealt with cats like Daffodil and Peony would be best. They can only be pulled by a New Hope rescue. Share them before it is too late.

06/25/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Daffodil was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. Reaction to assessor: Daffodil was curled up outside his feral den at the front of the kennel. Reaction when softly spoken to: Daffodil arches his back and hisses when spoken to softly. Reaction to cage door opening: Daffodil remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Daffodil leans away and hisses as you approach him. His ears bend flat and his eye are focused all movements. He allows brief contact before hissing and retreating to the back of the kennel. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Daffodil is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. He hisses upon contact, is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
