SAFE 3/29/18- DECLAWED Snow-White Beauty – CRYSTAL – at BACC! Crystal 23623 is a 13 year old, white , spayed DSH. Crystal was surrendered due to allergies. Crystal has never suffered any health issues or injuries. Recommend ophthalmologist consult for eyelid mass.

ENRICHMENT NOTES:
03/25/18
Lying in litterbox with a low, tense body. Tolerates petting along head and body while turning head and smelling the bear-claw, ears shifting forward. Curious but unsure, needs more time to adjust.

03/26/18
Lying in front of kennel, body neutral and ears forward. Vocalizes softly as I approach. Very food motivated – gobbles up all treats offered. She allows petting along her head and body while turning her head to smell my hand, ears remaining forward. Curious. Has potential to warm up.

How is this cat around strangers?Around stranger Crystal is described as friendly & relaxed. When stranger come inside the home she will approach for sniffing. She will head push the strangers leg for attention. she allows to be rubbed,held & Picked by a stranger.She has never displayed a behavior concern towards a stranger.
How is this cat around children?Crystal has never interacted with any children while with the owner.
How is this cat around other cats?Crystal has never interacted with any cats while with the owner.
How is this cat around dogs?Crystal has never interacted with any dogs while with the owner.
Behavior NotesCrystal allows to be picked up & held. Crystal isn’t bothered by being picked up or held. Crystal enjoys being brushed. During the brushing she will sit & purr. She will walk right into her carrier if their treats inside.
Bite history:Crystal has never attempted to bite or scratch the owner.

Has this cat ever had any medical issues?NoFor a New Family to KnowCrystal is described as relaxed & calm. Crystal likes to stay to herself while inside the home. Crystal was fed dry meow mix 2 times a day. Crystal is Indoors Only but she likes to sit on the window seal in the mornings.
Behavior Notes:Upon Intake crystal allowed to be removed from the carrier. She allowed to be collared,photographed and caged. Crystal scanned negative for a microchip.

History : o/s 3/25. Did not start treatment for conjunctivitis/eyelid mass due to behavior

Subjective: BAR, at the front of the cage seeking attention. Good appetite. No csvd but has conjunctivitis ou.

Objective
EENT: Mucoid d/c with blepharospasm OD>OS, no nasal d/c
H/L: Normal RR, RE, eupneic
MSI: Ambulatory x 4, healthy hair coat
CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities

Assessment
Conjunctivitis ou
OD inner eyelid mass – r/o inflamed meibomian gland vs neoplasia
Geriatric
Declawed

Prognosis: Fair to good

Plan:
Start erythromycin OU BID x7d until 4/2-ONLY if behavior allows
Consider gabapentin if does not calm down in shelter
Recommend ophthalmologist consult for eyelid mass

Subjective: BAR. P started off green and friendly, but quickly escalated to red behavior, growling, hissing, swatting, trying to bite. Restrained in net.

Observed Behavior –

Evidence of Cruelty seen – n

BCS 5/9

EENT: OD inner upper eyelid has a pink flesh-like mass, approx 5mm.
Eyes clear corneas. Ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted
Oral Exam: missing several teeth, including upper canines. moderate dental disease
PLN: No enlargements noted
H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic
ABD: unable to palpate due to behavior
U/G: FS
MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat
CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Rectal: normal externally

Assessment
OD inner eyelid mass – r/o inflamed meibomian gland vs neoplasia
geriatric
declawed

Prognosis: fair, pending further workup on eyelid mass

Plan:
ctm until transfer/adoption
needs behavior assessment
recommend ophthalmologist consult for eyelid masss

SURGERY: spayed
