SMALL COLLECTIONS OF SPINDLE SHAPED CELLS WITH DEEPLY BASOPHILIC NUCLEI AND LARGE VARIATION IN CELL SHAPE AND SIZE AND NUCLEI SIZE OBSERVED. LARGE ROUND CELLS WITH ABUNDANT LIGHTLY BASOPHILIC “FLUFFY/BLURRED” CYTOPLASM FOUND THROUGHOUT THE SLIDE. EXTRACELLULAR EOSINOPHILIC MATRIX IS FOUND MORE HEAVILY ADMIXED WITH THESE CELL POPULATIONS. THERE ARE NUMEROUS BI-NUCLEATE CELLS. NO MITOTIC FIGURES ARE OBSERVED. ASSESSMENT: OSTEOSARCOMA WITH METASTASIS TO RIGHT SUBMANDIBULAR LYMPH NODE HIGHGLY SUSPECTED. As per previous owner, Cristobel has lived with other cats, dogs and got along well with them. Her owner says she is litter box trained and she loves to play and cuddle. Reaction to assessor: Cristobel was at the front of the kennel, leans forward and sniffs the assessor. Reaction when softly spoken to: Cristobel gets up, rubs up and head butts the kennel door then reaches out towards the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Cristobel is calm and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Cristobel seems hesitant at first but warms up when rubbed on her cheeks. She allows petting all over her body but seems to be a little sensitive on her back due to her mats. Her body relaxes, she leans in for head butts and appreciates attention. Reaction to being picked up: Cristobel was a bit tense when picked up but remains calm and allows all handling. Please note that this cat is being treated for a medical condition at the time of evaluation. It is difficult to determine at this time how the medical condition may be affecting the behavior. Behavior Determination: Average Cristobel interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
