Craig sniffs the assessor’s hand, then leans in and allows gentle petting on his cheeks. He steps out the cubby, arches his body when pet along his back, and gives head butts.

Craig is a brown tabby, male altered, cat that is 12 years old. The owner received Craig when he was just a kitten from a friend. The owner is surrendering Craig due to a family member having medical problems.

How is this cat around strangers?
When strangers come over Craig is very curious but keeps his distance. Craig likes approach and sniff. He will sometimes meow for attention and follow strangers around. He warms up quickly and allow to be pet. He also allows to be petted and will play in a gentle manner.
How is this cat around children?
Craig has lived with a 3 year old child. Around the toddler he is relaxed and affectionate. He allows the child to rub his back and play with his tail. Craig will always solicit attention from the toddler and follow him around gently.
How is this cat around other cats?
Craig has lived with a female altered cat. They lived in harmony and respected each other’s space. They don’t interact with each other as much. They share a litter box but sleep apart. When they play it is done in a gentle manner

Craig is fearful when trimming his nails and getting a bath, but he will not attempt to bite or scratch. He struggles away but is tolerant. He likes to have his coat brushed and purrs while being brushed. Craig always uses his hooded litter box, he shares with another house cat. He has a scratching post next to his bed. The scratching post is made out to cardboard. Sometimes he scratches the house wooden door frame if his scratching post is not replaced with a new one.

Craig is described by the family as curious, relaxed and friendly. His two favorite activities are sleeping and jumping on high furniture. He likes to play with toys such as aluminum foil balls or mouse toys. He eats a diet of dry cat food of any brand. He sometimes eat a can of wet food as a treat.
Behavior Notes:
Craig needed to be coaxed out of his carrier, once out of carrier he rubs his body against counselor. He liked to walk around the backdrop and explore his surroundings, he displayed a loose body. He allowed counselor to collar and scan him for a microchip. Craig allowed counselor to pick him up and place him in the kennel. In the kneel he turns his back against councilor and stares at the wall but if counselor calls out to him he walks forward and bunts the kennel door.
