***GONE 07/21/16 ***COOKIE IS JUST 4 YEAR’S OLD AND JUMPED BECAUSE OF A LAZY OWNER! She’s already SPAYED but that won’t matter if someone doesn’t do something about saving her! Her owner decided after 4 years that she would move but not find a home suitable for cat’s or even allowed them. So the OWNER DUMPED COOKIE at the HIGH KILL SHELTER and to make matters worse, this extremely fearful sweetheart has been tagged with a RESCUE ONLY RATING! PLEASE, contact a NEW HOPE rescue and offer to FOSTER OR ADOPT this sweet girl!

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Our enrichment facilitator has interacted with Cookie and at the time she was meowing with wide eyes focused on the assessor. Cookie comes forward and sniffs hand. Cookie charges to the front and tries to swipe through the bars. She lip licks and leans forward to sniff hand. Reaction to assessor: Cookie hisses and growls at the assessor When spoken quietly: Cookie continues to hisses and growls Reaction to door cage opening: Cookie remains motionless at the back of the cage Reaction to touch: Cookie allows limited petting with a slow approach before turning on her side swatting. Try picking cat up: Did not attempt Behavior Determination: NewHope Cookie seems to not be thriving in this environment and at the time of the assessment she was displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room. Cookie may require further investigation before placement in a home. She is extremely fearful and currently does not tolerate much petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
