Hello, my name is Cobalt. My animal id is #17404. I am a desexed male white cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 8 months old. – P
I came into the shelter as a stray on 31-Dec-2017.

Cobalt is at risk due to being diagnosed with an Upper Respiratory Infection, which is contagious to other cats. Cobalt will likely require in home care with a course of antibiotics. There are no behavior concerns for Cobalt at this time, Average determination.

Upon intake, Cobalt was trying to flee but allowed all handling. Cobalt quietly meowed when he was held.
KNOWN HISTORY:: Cobalt interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat can go to a beginner home.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: 12/31/17 Observed Behavior -shy but docile and allows all handling
ENRICHMENT NOTES:: URI. Resting on bedding, soft eyes and body, eating dry food. Lay in place when door opened. Brief hesitation when first touched, then warmed up, leaned and arched into pets. Resumed eating after door closed.
Cage Condition:: No change
Reaction to assessor:: Cobalt remains neutral, lying down on his cage bedding during the approach.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Cobalt becomes alert with eyes wide open.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Cobalt remains immobile in place, ears erect and forward.
Reaction to touch:: Cobalt seems hesitant, but slowly approaches the front and leans into the assessor’s hand while appreciating the petting.
Reaction to being picked up:: He becomes antsy then jumps back into the cage.
ACTIVITY LEVEL:: Mellow
VOCAL:: Somewhat chatty
