08/12/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Cielo was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. Reaction to assessor: Cielo was at the back of the kennel pressed up against the wall watching the assessor with wide eyes focused on all movements. Reaction when softly spoken to: Cielo slowly arches his back then hisses and spits at the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Cielo remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Cielo’s are bent perfectly flat and he low growls when you approach. As soon as the assessor extended his hand out to make contact Cielo hissed and lunged forward. He currently doesn’t allow any contact and he quickly retreated back into his feral den. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Cielo is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. He is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
