I am a female gray tabby domestic sh mix. The shelter thinks I am about 2 YEARS
I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 09/01/2016 from NY 10308, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY. I came in with Group/Litter #K16-072615.

09/01/16 18:34 Animal’s appearance – Cat appeared clean and of healthy weight. Animal’s demeanor with you – Cat came in a trap. Cat was not handled. Cat was transferred directly from trap to den. Client stated that his neighbor contacted him stating that she and her husband are scared of a stray cat in their yard. It is a female cat that had a litter of kittens. The client has had experience trapping stray cats and offered to help. Client set the trap and within an hour the female cat and one kitten were caught. The client brought the trap with the mother cat and kitten straight to SIACC.

Cherrios came to the shelter as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment. Upon intake, Cherrios was not handled. Reaction to assessor: Cherrios is in her den, crouched, tense. Reaction when softly spoken to: Cherrios looks at the assessor, body tense. Reaction to cage door opening: Cherrios remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Cherrios hisses repeatedly as the assessor approaches, does not allow petting. Placement Determination: New Hope Only Cherrios does not approach the assessor or allow handling. At the time of the assessment, she is with her young kittens and this may affect the behaviors shown. Cherrios is exhibiting behavior suited to rescue partners.
