**SAFE 08/14/16**SWEET LITTLE TUXIE KITTEN PURRBOX LOOKING FOR A HOME! CHECKERS is a black and white cutie with a mostly black coat with little white mittens, boots and bib. He is 16 weeks old and was brought into the shelter as a stray. CHECKERS is one of those cats who loves everyone! He was purring in his cage and reaching out a paw to encourage visitors to pet him! He is exuberant and full of head-butts and meows to be pet! He is as affectionate as they come!! CHECKERS WANTS TO BE YOUR LAP CAT and not to die tomorrow at the shelter! Please RESCUE CUDDLY CHECKERS TODAY!!! He will pay you back with purrs and kisses!

08/08/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – BEGINNER

Checkers was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. He was purring upon intake and allowed all handling. He also allowed all handling during his initial medical exam. The enrichment facilitator reports he was calm and relaxed by the front, and was very affectionate during their interaction. Reaction to assessor: Checkers was by the front, meowing and soliciting attention. Reaction when softly spoken to: Checkers begins to purr and reaches out with his paw. Reaction to cage door opening: Checkers remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Checkers head-butts, leans in for petting, and begins to purr. He is very affectionate throughout the interaction. Reaction to pick up: Checkers remains soft and purrs when held. Behavior Determination: Beginner Checkers interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat can go to a beginner home.
