CHARM – A0815810 aka A1104460
Safe - 3-6-2017 Brooklyn
SAFE 3/6/17 A volunteer writes: Beautiful Charm is a calico princess who wants to live life on her own terms. That means she’s happy to have you pet her — but she will be quick to let you know when she’s had enough. Though can be a little sensitive, (what royalty isn’t?) she lets her guard down when playing, and will enthusiastically chase and bat at feather toys.

KNOWN HISTORY:
Charm was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home.
EVALUATION:
Cage Condition: No change
02/23/17
Lying quietly along rear wall of kennel, face pressed against side. Allows petting all over, doesn’t react much, but does begin breathing rapidly and turns away from the attention, wants to be invisible. Nervous and unsure, but a big sweet social housecat that has potential to warm up here, just needs some time. Gorgeous medium-hair, will really shine with some brushing. Left fresh food, treats, a catnip toy and sprayed Feliway.
02/26/17
Quiet, aloof, independent. Allows some head rubs, but not receptive to a lot of petting, at least not yet. Doesn’t seem to be eating much. Gave some treats and a catnip toy.
02/27/17
Vocal, has a regal bearing. Seems aloof, independent, undemanding. Doesn’t really want much petting. Gave a frozen tuna pop which she likes a lot, came to the front to lick and eat.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Quiet alert responsive

Luxuriating at the back of kennel, curled up, looks really comfortable. Looks up when I open kennel door, watches me with soft eyes, not too excited. Lets me give some head rubs, leans in a little for more, seems satisfied with a short amount of petting. Elegant, imperial. Doesn’t seem to have much interest in toys. She really does have a majestic bearing; calm, experienced cat parents should make good servants for her!
03/01/17
Calm, quietly resting in kennel. Perked up today when I approached, lifted up regally, stretched mightily, came forward and was very much in the mood for petting today. Let me pet all over, appreciative. Social and friendly; she may be selective about when she’ll want petting. Attempted to pick up and she was not having it, clearly let me know this. In-kennel interactions are recommended. Gave a tuna treat.
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mellow
VOCAL: Somewhat Chatty
CHARACTER TYPE: Social, Affectionate, Insistent
RECOMMENDATIONS:
_x_ Experienced, adult home only- Charm tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his or her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home who understands this cat may need time to warm up to her new home and family at her own pace.
