CHARLOTTE – A1082131
Gone - 7-26-2016 Manhattan
**GONE 07/26/16** HOW OLD IS CHARLOTTE REALLY? Her former owner says 14, the ACC says 7. Wish we could give everyone a definitive answer but we can’t….THE REAL PROBLEM HERE IS FINDING A NEW HOME FOR CHARLOTTE!! CHARLOTTE is cat friendly (though we don’t see any other cats surrendered with her). She has a thyroid nodule and since she is only 4.8 pounds is most likely hyperthyroid but she needs the bloodwork to help define that and also to determine what level she is at. Hyperthyroidism is easily and inexpensively treated in cats. Certainly no reason to be killed tomorrow…..CHARLOTTE is a little scared right now and was not happy with the hustle & bustle of the adoptions room…..ALL SHE NEEDS IS A LITTLE TIME & SHE WILL MAKE HERSELF TO HOME……Please apply to FOSTER or ADOPT NOW and SAVE THIS SENIOR!!

Charlotte’s previous owner reports she is very shy around strangers. She has lived with mostly adults in the home and plays gently with people she knows. She has also lived with two other cats and they all got along very well. She was described as friendly and shy, with a medium activity level. She loves to eat and sleep most of the day, and prefers to be in the same room as the rest of the family. Reaction to assessor: Charlotte had a low body posture upon approach and appears tense. Reaction when softly spoken to: Charlotte blinks and her ears tilt sideways. Reaction to cage door opening: Charlotte remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Charlotte turns her head away when the assessor extends their hand, but accepts touch and slowly turns to face the assessor. She appears to like cheek and chin rubs, and would lean against the assessor’s hand when petted. Reaction to being picked up: Charlotte is tense during pick up, but is calm when held. Behavior Determination: Experience Charlotte tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. She may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents. 7/25 update: Charlotte appears to be overwhelmed in the busy adoptions room, hissing and retreating when approached. In the quieter holding room, Charlotte is social and affectionate, soliciting attention and leaning into the assessor’s hand for petting. Due to her response to the adoption room, we recommend that she move into a stable home environment as quickly as possible.
