08/23/2017 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Steady VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Skittish MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 8/21/17- Subjective: Alert, tense, hisses occasionally ENRICHMENT NOTES: 8/21/17 Curled up with sibling in litter box, eyes dilated, very tense posture. Started hissing when door opened. Hissed, spit, and repeatedly struck offered assess-a-hand. 8/22/17 Moved downstairs to holding. Curled up with sibling in litter box, wide-eyed, alert. Hunched lower when door opened. Wound up under equally scared sibling. Hissed repeatedly when touched, eyes dilated, ears flat. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Charles remains tense, crouched position at the back of the cage. Reaction to cage door opening: Charles stiffens up, alert with eyes dilated, and ears flat turned sideways. Reaction to touch: Charles began to hiss and distance increase towards the other side of the cage and when touched he stiffens with no further interest. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Charles tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home who understands this cat may need time to warm up to her new home and family at her own pace.
