12/04/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Cash was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. She was fearful upon intake, unwilling to walk. After several minutes, she ran into the carrier and retreated to the back, moving further back when approached by the counselor. The medical team reports she only allow minimal handling during her initial medical exam, attempting to flee and hissing and growling. Reaction to assessor: Cash was sitting upright by the back, neutral. Reaction when softly spoken to: Cash looks at the assessor and remains completely still. Reaction to cage door opening: Cash remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Cash stiffens and hisses as the assessor extends their hand. She remains immobile and tense during petting, but tolerates touch on her head and body, grumbling softly. She relaxes as the assessor shifts away and stress meows. Behavior Determination: Experienced, No Children Cash tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
