She has a few mats in her gorgeous orange coat, but she has a sunny personality! This pretty senior lady has been affectionate, allowed handling, and is looking for a loving retirement home to spend her golden years in!

06/17/17 S/O: QAR. ~5%dehydrated. Attention seeking. Ate very well yesterday, minimal appetite overnight. Vomited hair ball. EENT: Nuclear sclerosis, iris atrophy, moderate dental tartar/gingivitis HL: No coughing or sneezing MSI: Ambulatory x 4, unkempt hair coat, very thin BCS UG: Female CBC shows very mild neutrophilia characterized by a mild monocytosis, mild non-regenerative anemia Chemistry shows mild increases in ALKP and ALT TT4 is significantly elevated (14.8ug/dL) A: Geriatric, hyperthyroid P: Continue to monitor while at BACC. Rec treatment with methimazole with placement Adding LRS 100ml SQ q24 x 3 days. Good/fair prongosis with approriate treatment and management

KNOWN HISTORY: Carla was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Seems QAR/depressed, not really interactive, allows handling but will growl or use paws when she does not like a body part touched. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is neat Reaction to assessor: Carla comes forward with a relaxed body to greet the assessor. Reaction when softly spoken to: Carla sniffs the assessor then rubs her entire body against the cage door. Reaction to cage door opening: Carla is calm and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Carla leans against the assessor’s hand allowing gentle rubs all over. She purrs softly, nuzzles against the assessor and appreciates attention. Reaction to being picked up: Carla is calm, relaxed and allows all handling. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mellow, VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Affectionate, Social, Sweet BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Beginner Carla interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat can go to a beginner home.

DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: 16yrs Microchip noted on Intake? no History : Owner has cancer and is in hospice. Surrendered by owner’s daughter. Subjective: Cat is QAR/depressed. Observed Behavior – seems QAR/depressed, not really interactive, allows handling but will growl or use paws when she does not like a body part touched. Evidence of Cruelty seen – no Evidence of Trauma seen – no Objective T = NA P = 200 R = 50 BCS 2/9 EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal discharge noted Oral Exam: Grade 1/4 dental dz; tip fx of both upper canines; will not allow full oral exam; jaw clenched; uses paws when attempts made to open mouth PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: Grade II-III/VI heart murmur Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: possible spay scar (or small mass) ventral abdomen MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, matted CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: not performed Assessment: Geriatric underlying – very thin body condition, inappetance, oral pain? DDx: CKD, Hyperthyroidism, Neoplasia, Open Plan: Recommend rescue placement and work-up including CBC/CS/UA/T4 +/- imaging of chest and abdomen (radiographs and/or ultrasound). Keep in medical to monitor appetite and hydration status. Prognosis: Poor-Fair depending on Dx SURGERY: Suspect cat is already spayed, but if not, permanent waiver due to age.
