Cardamom is at risk for medical reasons, having been diagnosed with Upper Respiratory Infection, which is contagious to other cats. Behaviorally, we have no concerns for Cardamom, whom we believe would be suitable even for a beginner cat home.

Cardamom had a relaxed body and allowed me to pet and collar her. She head butted and leaned into pets.
Basic Information:: Cardamom is a torti DSH female cat. She is estimated to be 1 year old. She was a neighborhood cat who her finder was feeding for the past week. She was brought in as a stray on 1/2/18 due to her health declining.
How is this cat around strangers?: Cardamom usually hisses and flees from strangers but she allowed her finder to pick her up and pet her and she was friendly.

KNOWN HISTORY:: Cardamon was brought in as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: 1/2/18 Observed Behavior – tail up, head butting
ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 01/03/18 Lying down, meowing softly when approached. Despite being ill, she arches her body when pet and approaches the front to interact. She begins to purr, leans in for petting, and is very sweet.

Reaction to assessor:: Cardamon engages when approached by the assessor.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Cardamon remains soft in place.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Cardamon remains standing at the front of the cage, relaxed body posture, soliciting attention.
Reaction to touch:: Cardamon head-butts the assessor’s hand and appreciates petting on the head and body.
Reaction to being picked up:: Allows the pickup and remains calm.
