11/23/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Caramel was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. Reaction to assessor: Caramel was alert and sitting straight up, pressed up against the back wall of the kennel. Reaction when softly spoken to: Caramel seems wary, keeps her tail at her side and stays focused on all movements. Reaction to cage door opening: Caramel remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Caramel lip licks and seems very wary when the assessor extends his hand out. Her ears bend flat, her head lowers and she hisses and swats when close. She remains alert pressed up against the back wall, seems uncomfortable and doesn’t allow any contact at this time. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Caramel is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. She has tried to swat, is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
