SAFE 7/16/18 CANDY was found outside in a crate with a sleeping bag. He is already neutered but has dental issues. Candy is nervous in the shelter and needs a new home asap.

History : Stray, found in a carrier outside with a sleeping bag
Subjective: Alert in kennel, quiet.
Observed Behavior – Once removed from carrier, pt started to growl and became tense. He began yowling, hissing and jumping away from abd palpation. Pt was sedated for further exam with Dexdomitor 0.35 ml IM and butorphanol 0.18 ml IM.
Evidence of Cruelty seen – None
Evidence of Trauma seen – None
Objective
BAR-H, MMs pink and moist, BCS 7/9
EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted
Oral Exam: Mild tartar
PLN: No enlargements noted
H/L: NSR, NMA, Lungs clear, eupnic, no coughing or sneezing
ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated, not distended
U/G: Male neutered
MSI: Fur coat on tail and dorsum is short and uneven, as if it has recently been clipped to remove mats. Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted.
CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Rectal: Normal externally
Assessment:
1. Overweight
2. Mild dental disease
3. Uneven hair coat
Prognosis: Good
Plan:
1. Recommend weight loss of 2-3 lbs
2. Recommend daily tooth brushing and regular dental cleanings
