Candy is at risk for behavior concerns. Candy has feline asthma and is geriatric with possible other underlying conditions. Follow up with a veterinarian including a full geriatric work up is strongly recommended. Candy has been friendly and easy to handle in the care center.

Cat reported heaving in kennel S/O: BARH. Eating well. Active in cage. EENT: Nuclear sclerosis, no ocular or nasal discharge HL: Not ausculted – became tense and tried swatting — normal RR/RE, no coughing, sneezing or wheezing observed. INTEG: Full coat MS: Ambulatory x 4 UG: Spayed A: Geriatric, increased lung sounds previously noted on exams – R/O Asthma vs old age changes vs other. Since reported wheezing, asthma more likely P: Scheduled thoracic radiographs. Continue to monitor.

KNOWN HISTORY:: Candy was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: A little shy/timid, but warms up quickly. Hissed once, but may have been due to smelling other cat. Otherwise, allows all handling with little restraint.
Cage Condition:: Cage is neat
Reaction to assessor:: Candy perks up and comes forward immediately when the assessor approaches.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Candy looks around at her surroundings, lip licks then moves into her cubby.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Candy remains calm.
Reaction to touch:: Candy perks up, sniffs the assessor’s hand and accepts gentle petting along her body. She purrs, gives head butts and is curious of her surroundings.
Reaction to being picked up:: Candy was a bit tense when picked up, but she allows handling.
