*** SAFE 03/25/16 *** PREGNANT AND AFRAID, CAKIE NEEDS A RESCUE ANGEL TONIGHT TO ESCAPE HER DOOM TUESDAY AFTERNOON!! CAKIE was dumped as a stray kitty in the kill happy shelter. And this poor girl, even though she was composed upon intake, knows she is in a bad place and has tried to flee although she is not aggressive and striking out. CAKIE is also pregnant – and what is the solution for a pregnant cat in the shelter? Well since CAKIE is scared, they are just going to kill her and her unborn at noon Tuesday. CAKIE is a healthy 2 year old girl and she only needs someone to give her a chance to decompress and relax. After all she’s been through, we need to advocate for her tonight so she will fine a good foster or adopter to give her the TLC she needs. Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Cakie was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. Cakie was very scared upon intake, but remained composed. She was also nervous during her initial medical exam, and started to become defensive in an attempt to flee. Reaction to Assessor: Cakie was lying down upon approach and was calm and relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Cakie looks at the assessor and blinks softly. Reaction to cage door opening: Cakie becomes stiff and alert. Reaction to touch: Cakie focuses on the assessor’s hand and lip licks. She attempts to shift away from contact and starts to breathe rapidly and blink. She allows brief touch, but attempts to flee and appears very uncomfortable and fearful. Placement Determination: New Hope Only Cakie is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. She is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
