I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 08/25/2017 from NY 10453, owner surrender reason stated was ABANDON. I came in with Group/Litter #K17-109076.

ACTIVITY LEVEL: Steady VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Independent, Shy KNOWN HISTORY: Cabernet was brought in as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Subjective: During exam – tense, crouches to table, allows all handling EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Cabernet remains neutral, lying down on his cage bedding during the approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Cabernet looks around his cage and began to lip lick in place. Reaction to cage door opening: Cabernet remains stiff in place. Reaction to touch: Cabernet accepts the touch, but slowly retreats away from the assessor’s hand and remains immobile with no further interest with the interaction. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Cabernet tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.

Scanned neg on LVT intake History : Stray, abandoned with 2 other cats Subjective: During exam – tense, crouches to table, allows all handling Observed Behavior – In kennel when removed – growling and swatting, was netted for movement to carrier. Objective BAR-H, MMs pink, BCS 5/9 EENT: Severe black granular discharge AU. Many scratches and thin fur to alopecia on head in front of ears, on neck and shoulders. Ear margins are slightly raggedy as if pt was in a few fights. Eyes clear, no nasal discharge noted. Oral Exam: Mild tartar PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Tense, no masses palpated U/G: Male cryptorchid – left testicle not palpable. MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, Alopecia and scratches noted on shoulders – no other lesions noted. CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: Normal externally Wood’s lamp – negative Assessment: 1. Likely ear mites 2. Cryptorchid Plan: 1. Cleaned ears during exam, start Tresaderm AU BID x10 days 2. Neuter Prognosis: Good SURGERY: Okay for surgery 1088
