11/15/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Buffalo was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. Reaction to assessor: Buffalo was resting at the back on his blanket with his tail curled up at his side. Reaction when softly spoken to: Buffalo has his paws folded under his body and has wide eyes focused on the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Buffalo remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Buffalo’s ears bend flat and he lip licks when the assessor extends his hand out. He tolerates petting briefly on his head then quickly whips around tries to swat at the assessor. His body is tense, he retreats to the back, lowers his body and doesn’t allow any more contact. Behavior Determination: New Hope Only Buffalo is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. He has tried to swat, is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
