Medical Summary DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: 10-12 mos Microchip noted on Intake? no History : Surrenderer reports taking in the pregnant Queen so she could have her babies. She gave birth two days ago, is not nursing the kittens, and acting lethargic. The surrenderer was bottle feeding the kittens, but can no longer care for them. Subjective: Observed Behavior – appears dull at back of carrier, eyes are bright, but does not move much when on exam table, allows all handling with minimal resistance, but cries like she is uncomfortable or in pain Evidence of Cruelty seen – no Evidence of Trauma seen – no Objective T = 100.5 P = 200 R = 30 BCS 4/9 EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean (inner pinna pale), no nasal discharge noted Oral Exam: Healthy dentition; pale mm PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Soft, but cat cries during palpation; no palpable fetuses; stool in colon U/G: frank blood coming from vulva; no mammary development, does not appear to be lactating (not producing milk) MSI: Ambulatory x 4 (very weak), skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: not performed PCV – 9% Assessment: Anemia (suspect due to post-partum complications), Agalactia (not producing milk), FeLV+ Plan: Recommending humane euthanasia due to PCV is not compatible with life. Prognosis: Grave SURGERY: Permanent waiver due to FeLV+
