06/09/2017 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laidback VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Curious, Independent ENRICHMENT NOTES: 6/1/17- Hiding under bedding, eye dilated. Held immobile when face uncovered. Started lip licking when touched. Sniffed treats, but didn’t eat. 6/4/17- Asleep on bedding, woke when dog entered exam room, crouched in place looking around. Seemed a little wary, but eyes not dilated. Very hungry! Dove into offered treats, brief pause to lean into pets, then resumed eating. 6/5/17- Curled up asleep in litter box, woke when door opened, continued to lay in place. Ate all treats, allowed pets, then stood and came forward for more treats. Repeatedly stumbled when trying to walk. Leaned and arched into pets, lifted rear for butt scratches. 6/6/17- Biting and kneading on blanket on approach, appeared to be mounting. Lay down after a bit, still soft eyes and body. Meowed on approach, then stood and resumed mounting behavior on blanket. Allowed all pets, ignored me. 6/7/17- Resting on bedding, soft eyes and body. Meowed when spoken to, then sat up. Came to the front when door opened. Leaned and arched into pets, ate offered treats. 6/8/17- Still biting, kneading, and humping blanket. Briefly laying down at front, alert, eyes dilated. Started meowing on approach. Backed away when door opened, started humping blanket again, completely ignored me. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Brooklyn remains relaxed body, lying down on his cage bedding during the approach. Reaction to cage door opening: Brooklyn’s head is forward, alert with normal shape eyes. Reaction to touch: Brooklyn accepts a brief touch then becomes agitated and nips followed by pawing (claws not exposed) at the assessor’s hand. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Brooklyn may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.
