SAFE 9/12/17 BRAVE is a 2 month old kitten who was brought in with right hind leg wounds and trauma to the hind leg. He is friendly despite painful injuries and needs a home where he can get follow up medical care.

Medical Summary DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: 10-12 weeks Microchip noted on Intake? no History : Unknown, stray Subjective: BAR-H Observed Behavior – Tolerates all handling very well, no resistance despite painful injuries Evidence of Cruelty seen – no Evidence of Trauma seen – yes Objective T = NT P = 200 R = eup BCS 4-5/9 EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal discharge noted Oral Exam: dec dentition, no lingual ulcers PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: 2 desc testicles MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, 4 cm laceration with muscular trauma on lateral right hind (looks clean and very fresh) ventral to stifle and dorsal to hock; on the dorso/medial surface of the hock there is another full thickness tissue defect in a rectangular shape with muscular trauma evidence. Hock palpates as stable; no palpable crepitus or boney trauma CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: NP Assessment 10-12 w old M DSH 1. Lacterations on RH Plan -FVRCP -Retro negative -frontline -pyrantel tomorrow in food -30 cc LRS SQ -Simabdol 0.15 ml -Wound treatment (see below) -Sign up for recheck/bandage change in 2 days; ideally daily for first 3-5 days bandage changes but no DVM in tomorrow -Clavamox 13.75 mg/kg PO BID x 7-10 days -Simbadol 0.24 mg/kg SQ SID x 4 more days Wound treatment: -0.05 ml IM telazol -Sterile lubricant placed in wound beds and hair clipped. The area was scrubbed with dilute chlorhexsolution and then rinsed copiously with sterile saline. This was repeated. After drapping the area, the skin edges of the wound beds were trimmed. On the lateral wound bed, 1 deep and 3-4 superficial SQ sutures were placed to close dead space with 4-0 monosorb. The skin was closed with interrupted sutures using 4-0 monocryl. The dorsomedial wound would not hold SQ sutures. A small amount of underminding around this area was performed to reduced tension on skin. The skin was closed with 4-0 monocryl. A soft badded bandage was then placed: sterile nonadherent bandage, cast padding, cling, vet wrap, tape. Prognosis: Fair to Good pending healing SURGERY: Temporary waiver due to right hind leg wounds
