05/28/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Our enrichment facilitator has interacted with Boston and at the time he had a tense body at the back of the cage. Boston had wide eyes and focused on all movements. Boston low growls as you approach. Reaction to assessor: Boston was resting at the front of the cage When spoken quietly: Boston hissed at the assessor but did not move from the front Reaction to door cage opening: Boston stood up and started growl with his ears flat Reaction to touch: Boston growls, strikes and does not allows petting at all Try picking cat up: Did not attempt to pick up Behavior Determination: NewHope Boston was brought to the care center as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies previous to what we are seeing during the evaluation. Boston seems to not be thriving in this environment and at the time of the assessment Boston was displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room. He may require further investigation before placement in a home. Boston is extremely fearful and currently does not tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
