I came into the shelter as a stray on 09-Dec-2017.

Boots is at risk due to being diagnosed with an Upper Respiratory Infection and will likely require home rest and a series of antibiotics for up to 14 days. This is a contagious illness to other cats. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.

PROGRESS EXAM Hx: Adoptions reported cat was drooling more than usual. S/O: Cat is QARH. Notable ptyalism, holding mouth slightly open, serous nasal discharge, shaking head. Wet food appears partially eaten. A: Ptyalism DDx: Nausea, Pre-URI, Open P: LVT to give 0.6 mLs Cerenia and 0.3 mLs Famotidine, both SQ. Schedule vet check for tomorrow.
Recheck ptyalism S/O: QARH. Allows handling. Decreased appetite EENT: Eyes clear, no ocular discharge, moderate serous nasal discharge HL: Normal thoracic auscultation, sneeze marks in cage A: URI P: Rec doxycycline 1.4ml PO q24 x 10 days Excellent prognosis

KNOWN HISTORY:: Boots was brought in as a stray, so there is no information on their behavior history or tendencies in a home environment. During intake, Boots was trying to flee but he did allow the counselor to collar him and take his picture.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: Observed Behavior -scared, but allows all handling
ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 12/10/17 Lying In litterbox with a relaxed body, ears forward. Lifts head and makes eye contact when cubby door opens. He allows petting along his head and body while leaning in and head-butting litterbox edge. Rolls over onto side. Allows all petting and warms up once approached. Doing well after first day!
