She tolerates brief petting, but quickly becomes agitated and will display distance-increasing behaviors to prevent further contact.

06/21/17 11:30 Boobop is a year and 10 month old black shorthair cat. She was adopted from the ACCand the owner has had her for over one year. Boobop has no health or medical injuries she is aware of. Boobop is shy and takes a while to warm up to people. She usually will observe people from afar. She has not lived with children, dog, or cats. She has not bitten another person or animal. Owner states she has no behavioral issues at home. Boobop is relaxed in her carrier during car rides Owner reports she has no known litterbox issues. She has not tried to bath her, trimmed her nails, or brushed her coat. She goes in the carrier easily. She does not mind being picked up and held. Boobop is described as a friendly, affectionate, and playful cat with high energy. She loves to climb and chase his catnip toys and chase mice out of the house. She has been kept indoors only. She usually curls up on the couch or on the window sill. She eats wet and dry food. She is use to going in an open litterbox with clumping clay. She was not given a scratching post but owner stated they bought a scratching pad a while ago and she loved using it.

KNOWN HISTORY: Lived Indoors Previously lived with: Adults Behavior toward strangers: Shy & takes a while to warm up to people Behavior toward children: Unknown Behavior toward cats: Unknown Behavior toward dogs: Unknown Bite or Scratch history: None Litter box training: Yes Energy level/descriptors: Friendly, affectionate, and playful cat with high energy. Other notes: She goes in the carrier easily and doesn’t mind being picked up and held. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Screaming, trying to bite. Wrapped in towel for exam ENRICHMENT NOTES: 06/22/17 Lying in litterbox with a flat body. Hisses and growls as I approach, making eye contact. Tolerates petting briefly before swatting the bear-claw out of her way and hissing. Needs more time to adjust. Sprayed feliway. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Boobop was lying down flat in her litter box with wide eyes focused on the assessor. Reaction when softly spoken to: Boobop lifts her head up and low growls when spoken to softly. Reaction to cage door opening: Boobop flinched and continued low growling. Reaction to touch: Boobop leans forward to sniff the assessor’s hand then squints and backs away. She tolerates petting very briefly before whipping around and biting. She arches her back, hisses and displays distance increasing behaviors. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Skittish, RECOMMENDATIONS: Placement with a New Hope partner – Boobop is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. She has tried to bite, is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
