BLAKE – A1065069
Safe - 2-26-2016 Brooklyn
***SAFE 02/26/2016*** SMALL-DOG FRIENDLY! At least, mellow BLAKE was friendly with the small dog who was his former housemate, just as he was friendly with the cat who had been his littermate. This vulnerable 10-year-old gent deserves a fresh start with loving, committed foster/adopters and that EXPERIENCE rating suggests he would be a good fit for most situations. Please read his VOLUNTEER NOTES and then save BLAKE tonight! “A volunteer writes: You will find Blake rolling around in his litter box like he is at the beach rolling in the sand. He’ll look up at you with his head up side down watching you with his big eyes gleaming amongst his black fur on his face. This older fellow is a little fearful, but he is a playful guy. He loves to play with toys, so come spend some time with him playing and you will find how energetic he is. He had previously lived with another cat and a small dog. This older gent I believe would do good in a quiet home with someone who has time to play with him and love him, and I’m sure he would love you back.”

He flinches when touched. Reaction to assessor: Blake does not come to front but remains neutral When spoken quietly: Blake does not come to front but remains neutral Reaction to door cage opening: Blake remains motionless Reaction to touch: Blake seems indifferent to my presence and touch at first but eventually warms up. He slowly begins to lean into head rubs. Try picking cat up: Did not attempt. Behavior Determination: Experience At the time of the assessment Blake was displaying timid behavior. He does not seek attention from the assessor and remains motionless as I started to get closer . After a steady slow approach using soft voices he relaxed a little. and I was able to pet him and interact with him in a limited way. Although Blake was tense no fractious behavior was display. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
