***SAFE 10/26/16*** PURRING AND HEAD-BUTTING BISTEC NEEDS YOU TO SAVE HIS LIFE TONIGHT! BISTEC happened to walk up to someone and let them pet his head. So this person gave him food, scooped him up, and dumped this handsome guy in the ACC! DID THEY EVER THINK HE MAY BE SOMEONE’S CAT??? DUHHHH. It never ceases to amaze us that people will not THINK before acting. What if someone had an indoor/outdoor kitty? Friendly cats usually mean they were someone’s pet. BISTEC got some food and a trip to the ACC where he caught a cold and will die for it now. BISTEC was EXPERIENCE rated even though he purred and gave head butts on his assessment. He allowed all petting and handling and was a very social kitty but for some reason the assessor had to do something to make him more worthy to put on the nightly list!! BISTEC IS A HANDSOME HUNK OF A CAT WHO JUST WANTS TO HAVE A FUREVER HOME. HE MAY HAVE A HOME, BUT RIGHT NOW, HE ONLY HAS TIL 12 NOON TO LIVE. PLEASE CONTACT A RESCUE RIGHT NOW TO ADOPT OR FOSTER. EMAIL [email protected] TO GET RESCUE INFO.

10/18/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Bistec was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. Reaction to assessor: Bistec was relaxed at the front of the kennel with his paws hanging outside. Reaction when softly spoken to: Bistec rises up, lightly head butts then reaches out towards the assessor for attention. Reaction to cage door opening: Bistec is calm, relaxed and is ready to greet the assessor. Reaction to touch: Bistec sniffs the assessor’s hand then lightly leans in for attention and allows petting all over his body. His tail starts to sway back and forth when pet. Bistec can get aroused easily and will whip around if rubbed on his back for too long. He relaxes then comes back purring softly and gives the assessor light head butts. Reaction to being picked up: Bistec was tense on pick up, then remained calm for a few seconds then meowed loudly to be put down. Bistec is social and affectionate but appears to be easily overstimulated. As a result of this observed behavior we recommend adopters who are familiar with signs of behavioral arousal and agitation in cats, so that interactions can be ended before Bistec becomes overstimulated. We also recommend fishing pole-type toys for play as they allow for interaction and vigorous, stimulating exercise while keeping human hands at a distance. Behavior Determination: Experience Bistec may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
