RETURN – BIG MAMA CAME IN AS A STRAY WEARING HER ACC ID COLLAR FROM 1/2/15 WHEN SHE WAS ORIGINALLY ADOPTED. SHE HAS SEVERE MATTING, HAD OILY FLUID SOAKED INTO FUR, WEIGHT LOSS, POSSIBLE HYPERTHYROID, RENAL AND LIVER DISEASE, UPPER FORELEG WAS LACERATED DURING SHAVING DUE TO THIN SKIN – NEEDS MEDICAL TO EVALUATE HER CONDITION.

Medical Summary 10/24/16 Check injured/ill cat. Wearing a collar from ACC with her previous ID number and date (1/2/15) on it. Collar removed. Microchip #0A11255A3E O: QAR. mm=pale pink, tacky, CRT=2 s. Easy to handle. ORAL: Mod. calculus, worn canine teeth. EENT: Eyeys sunken OU. H/L: Lungs clear. No murmurs ausculted. ABD: Soft, non-painful. No masses, organomegaly. MS: Very thin body condition, generalized muscle wasting. INTEG: Severe matting on limbs, ventrum. Oily fluid soaked into fur over limbs and ventrum. Decreased skin turgor. A: Geriatric, weight loss, matting, with oily debris in fur. Dehydration 7-10%. DDX: Renal disease, hyperthyroid, liver disease, neoplasia, other. P: Largest mats shaved and bathed in Dawn to remove as much oil as possible. One area over lat left upper foreleg lacerated during shaving (skin very thin). Wound cleaned with chlorhexidene, applied Silvidene cream and placed a small bandage to protect area. 150 ml LRS SQ. Continue daily x 4 days. Recheck tomorrow. Will need more mats shaved when condition is better.
